It's not that we have a short attention span. It's what we allow to catch our attention. So, as we start a new year, it's important to make a resolution to focus on achieving our goals and avoiding distractions. Here are the top 5 distractions that business owners commonly face and some tips for avoiding them: 1. Social media: It's easy to get sucked into scrolling through our social media feeds for hours on end. To avoid this distraction, try setting limits on your social media usage and only checking in at specific times of the day. 2. Emails: It's tempting to check our email as soon as we receive a notification, but this can break our focus and disrupt our workflow. To avoid email distractions, try setting aside specific times of the day to check and respond to emails rather than checking them constantly. 3. Meetings: Meetings can be a necessary part of running a business, but they can also be a major distraction. To avoid unnecessary meetings, try to limit the number of meetings you schedule and only invite the necessary attendees. 4. Multitasking: While it may seem like multitasking is an efficient way to get things done, it can actually be a major distraction. To avoid multitasking, try focusing on one task at a time and completing it before moving on to the next. 5. Noise and interruptions: Noise and interruptions can be a major distraction, especially when working in an open office environment. To avoid these distractions, try using noise-cancelling headphones or finding a quiet place to work.
